ISSUE 21
JUNE 2015

The new Dermask collection
We've recently launched nine new masks! This new collection of Dermasks focus on the treatment of specific skin concerns. Rolling out special features, three of these come in an assortment of shapes specifically made for laugh lines around the mouth, sagging in the neck/chin area, and to lift the cheeks and under-eye areas. The elastic hydrogel patches have volufiline dots that apply acupressure to support natural circulation. They function much like our All That Lift and Firm Prescriptment Mask and stretch across the face to lift the skin. There are also two new thermo-sensitive gel masks and an assortment of hydrating microfiber sheet masks! All nine Dermasks are available at Sephora.com and will be launched in stores early August. Keep on the lookout for more K-beauty innovation from Dr. Jart!

Relaaax to the max
Our launch of the new Dermask collection is quite exciting, especially because we are introducing new skincare technology unseen in masks ever before. In honor of these incredible finds, we are continuing our Brunch with Dr. Jart series on Instagram. This summer we plan to relax to the max and celebrate weekends with full at-home remedies and good food. If you are not already doing so, follow us on Instagram@drjartus and look out for more great mid-morning meals.

Dermask Laugh Line Lift
Dermask is here to save your skin this summer by offering solutions targeted to specific skin problems. And although laughter is a great remedy for the aching heart, too much smiling can sometimes leave marks. Our new Laugh Line Lift Dermask is made exactly for those round lines that appear around the mouth. Elastic hydrogel patches are embedded with volufiline dots that apply acupressure to support natural circulation and is stretched directly across the smile zone. We encourage you to try all nine Dermasks that fit your needs and the Laugh Line Lift Dermask is at the top of our list.

Meet Megan McIntyre, Beauty Director at Refinery 29. Megan made the jump to R29 when it was a small start-up. It was a natural fit for her unique take on beauty. Megan believes people need not adhere to rules or be afraid to try something just because it's not trendy. She says that there's a place for everyone to feel represented in the beauty conversation. R29 allowed her to share that idea of an inclusive, exploratory conversation around beauty. Read on for more about Megan, her views, and her experiences as a Beauty Director at Refinery 29!
Q1: As a beauty director with so much influence, we have to ask, where to you get your inspirations?
I find inspiration in everything from the art world and the science lab, to girls I see on the street and models on the runway. Nature has also been a big influencer for me — I can't help but look at a beautiful sunset and think what a great lipstick collection the tones would make. It's easy to be inspired if you are open to new experiences and new ideas.

Q2: What role does Art play in your life?
I've never considered myself much of an art person, but I definitely appreciate a wonderful work of art. I also really love seeing how many artists are viewing beauty through their lens. A great example is the photography that Francois Nars does, as well as the wonderful book Hair by David Sims and Guido Palau. It's so interesting to see beauty through the lens of the artist and definitely gives a new appreciation for the actual artistry that goes into a well-executed hair, makeup, or nail look.

Q3: What is your skincare routine like? Do you have any tips for staying beautiful?
I'm a religious double cleanser at night, using a cleansing oil to remove makeup followed by a gentle cream cleanser. I then spritz with some type of floral water spray and follow that up with a serum on my still-damp skin. This is followed by eye cream and either an overnight mask, a moisturizing night cream, a beauty oil, or a gentle exfoliating acid treatment depending on the day. I use masks 2-3 times a week, depending on how my skin is behaving (or misbehaving). In the daytime I use a cleanser, floral water, antioxidant serum, and a moisturizer with SPF — the number one thing I attribute to my skin health is religious application of an SPF 30 everyday.

Q4: What is this city’s most amazing trait that you stay for?
The energy! New York can be a frustrating, expensive place, but it also has an energy and life like no other place I've ever been. You don't move to New York because you really like sitting on your couch and watching Netflix — we're all hustlers and we love being in the center of it all. It's infectious!

Q5: Which mask did you enjoy the most at our Brunch?
I'm a devout user of the Pore Minimalist and the Brightening Infusion Masks, so those weren't new to me, however I had never tried the All That Lift & Firm before. I really liked that it was a mess-free application — no dripping liquids to worry about. The gel side felt really soothing on the skin and as weird as the over the ear hooks were, they definitely kept it in place and I noticed a definite improvement in the elasticity of my skin!

Q6: What are some of your other favorite Dr. Jart products?
In addition to the masks above, I love the Pore Medic Cleansing Bubble — it's such an invigorating cleanser and wakes me up without fail in the morning when I use it. I just started using the Contouring Kit and I am really liking it — I've never been a fan of the powder contour powders and I feel like these creams are so much easier to use and blend, especially for the makeup novice. And, while I haven't tried it yet, I've heard such good things about the Ceramidin Liquid from our Korean-based correspondent Joyce Kong that I am psyched to try it out.

This month’s art and culture bests from Dr. Jart
Art and culture are central to our world, and we love checking out the amazing events that New York City has to offer. Here are our top picks right now.
We are continuing to enjoy the new Whitney this month. Here's one from Sol LeWitt, one of our favorite artists. We love the combination of angles and lines that seem to imitate bursting lights.

A shot from the Upper West Side, admiring fallen blooms from earlier this month. We are loving the green energy peeking through this pink jungle of a fallen spring. Looking forward to warm summer nights.

We are featuring a prepared dish in honor of our Dermask launch and celebrating relaxation. Here's our favorite fresh bread and yogurt dish from a Saturday this past month with some Dis-A-Pore on the side.

We're continually inspired by all things science and art. Every week, we share a favorite philosophical quote on Instagram. Here's our favorite this month from a favorite of ours, William Shakespeare about having a light heart.

We spotted our Ceramidin Cream on Aimee Song of @songofstyle's Instagram. We are loving her collection of travel must-haves. She definitely moisturizes well, even when she's on-the-go. We are honored to be a part of the scene!
