New Objectives for the New Year
If you haven't already, you should definitely try our new Dermaclear products. The Micro Water and Micro Foam are enhanced with hydrogen micro-particles that are significantly smaller than water molecules and therefore cleanse pores more thoroughly. We are super excited to be bringing you a new video series featuring our Dermaclear line, also including our Trans-Foam Clay. Stay tuned!

Looking Forward
Ceramidin is among our most favorite products and we’re bringing it to you in many different forms for specific purposes. The Ceramidin Gel-Cream is perfectly light for the summer and the Day Tint is great for light coverage or an extra layer of sun protection under your BB Cream. Look forward to seeing more moisturizing goodies!

Meet Stella of Sundays with Stella, a writer for several beauty brands and a full time global marketing professional. Stella worked as a skincare model during her days in Seoul, developing deep knowledge of skincare and natural beauty products. She would regularly meet with dermatologists, herbalists, and doctors to improve her sensitive skin conditions. At NYU, she decided to embark on studies in Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health in hopes of advocating inner wellbeing, which lends itself to natural beauty. Read more about her views on beauty, art, and culture!
Q1: What are you most inspired by; what keeps your energy going?
My family, hands down. My family and I were never the types to vocalize our feelings to one another, but they’ve always inadvertently been inspirations to me in very quiet, subtle ways. I don’t do much writing aside from my freelance work; when I do, though, my family’s story is where it all starts.

Q2: What role does Art play in your life both professionally and personally?
I love photography, especially photos of people and landscape images. I’m not very good at taking pictures nor do I get to do it much professionally, but it’s definitely something I’d like to work on going forward. Photography, as well as other forms of art, helps me to think beyond real time and real life – they help me exercise my imagination and creativity. We all need that sometimes.

Q3: What is your skincare routine like? Any city-wise tips for our readers?
I follow a flexible Korean skincare routine (about 6-8 steps per day). I was always interested in taking care of my skin, so I’ve tested a lot of different products and learned which ones work best for my skin type (which is a weird mix of both dry and acne-prone). I’ve seen that a lot of people with oily skin types try to stay away from hydrating products, but it’s important to differentiate whether your skin is really acne-prone and oily, versus just overproducing sebum because it’s so dry. Using moisturizing hydro-gel masks like the Dr. Jart Water Replenishment mask every week is extremely helpful. As long as your skin is hydrated inside-out, you won’t necessarily need the optional (and expensive) “revitalizing” creams and “collagen-boosting” serums. Just use whatever works best.

Q4: How did you start your career in the beauty industry and what keeps you interested?
I suppose it was when I worked in the Korean entertainment industry and was training to debut as a singer/actress in Asia. I also worked as a skin care model for a short period of time in Seoul, and this was when I really started to dig deep into K-beauty. I ended up leaving the Korean entertainment industry to attend NYU and continue my academic studies. Now I’m working on the Global Marketing Team of a global beauty brand in the heart of Manhattan. What keeps me going is my interest in all the different cultural nuances of the beauty world.

Q5: Could you tell us a bit about your most favorite thing about the city and why you’re fond of New York, or any other place, in particular?
I think most people living in New York have a love-hate relationship with the city. I’ve tried to leave a number of times and move to Seoul (another city that’s near and dear to my heart), but have strangely always ended up coming back. I think this is the place you really come to learn and experience life as it is, uncensored and raw. You come to New York to meet people, to challenge yourself, get thrown to the ground a few times, and ultimately learn how to get back on your feet a little wiser each time.

Q6: What are your favorite Dr.Jart products?
The Ceramidin cream is the only product that keeps my skin moisturized during the winter. I’ve tried it all – the expensive creams to the tubsfrom the drug store – but this one does the job without irritating my skin or causing small breakouts. I’ve also been using the Dermaclear Foam Cleanser recently, and it does a great job of gently (yet effectively) cleansing away all the residue from makeup and from the air outside.
