Meet Kei Meguro an illustrator and graphic designer, with a fine arts Background, living and working in New York City. She is a self taught artist and began her career as a graphic designer. As much as she loved typography and design, the job didn't seem right for her. She left, picked up a pencil and started drawing! Read on for more about Kei's views on art, lifestyle and beauty.
Q1: What are you most inspired by; what keeps your energy going in the fashion, beauty and design world?
I'm inspired by everything I see, it could be from a magazine to girls on the streets, or even flipping through the encyclopedia and studying animals and plants. I consider myself a very visual person, so occasionally I catch myself constantly looking for something that's stimulating. I've never considered it work in terms of directing the energy for things I really adore.

Q2: Q2: What role does art and design play in your life both professionally and personally?
Since my hobby turned into a profession, I don't think there's a particular line I draw. If I make dinner, I try to make it Pinterest worthy and visually pleasing even though no one is going to see it! I just think its a part of my lifestyle now to notice all the little details that make something special.

Q3: What is your skincare routine like? Any city-wise tips for our readers?
I exfoliate with a handmade scrub, use a generous amount of toner then I moisturize with a cream. I think that's pretty basic, but I definitely wear sunscreen every day even in the wintertime. Since there's a lot of walking involved when you live in the city, you're prone to be out in the sun. I also carry a big water bottle with me everywhere I go, staying hydrated is key for happy skin.

Q4: What is the story behind your blog & Instagram, and what keeps you interested in the digital and design community?
I used to be a graphic designer and working a 9–5 job, I realized how much I needed time to focus on myself. I picked up a pencil and started drawing and it took me to a different place. I drew eveyday and started to post them on Instagram just to keep a visual diary for myself. As my collection of drawings grew, people started following along. The entire experience on Instagram has been nothing but positive and I have made countless artist friends. To be connected to thousands of people from different parts of the world, and to receive direct feedback from my followers is humbling. I am so grateful.

Q5: Could you tell us a bit about your most favorite city and why you’re fond of it in particular?
As much as I love New York, I'm originally from Tokyo and definitely left a part of my heart there. The food, fashion, architecture, art scene, the people. You would think from everything being so crazy and colorful, it'll be chaotic but there's a harmonious balance.

Q6: What are your favorite Dr.Jart products?
I take my BB Color kit everywhere I go, its been a lifesaver for me since I travel frequently. I receive positive comments about my skin whenever I use the Ceradimin oil balm and the hydrating mask as well. I could go on with the list of my favorite products, but those three are my top favorites for sure!
